  • Role: Gas Engineer

    Location: Chester

    Salary: £32,000-£35,000 per annum DOE

    The Role:
    The successful domestic gas engineers can be employed directly or can function as external contractors, your choice.  The majority of work will be within a 60 mile radius but extended travel with occasional overnight stays will be offered to engineers who are happy to work further afield.

    You will be provided with a company vehicle, a fuel card and tools.  Additional benefits exist and these will be explained during the job interview.

    The nature of the job is the professional installation of gas boilers and any associated work.  Other work would include swaps, conversions in addition to full system installations.  All the work will be in the private domestic market often in the presence of the homeowners.

    Skills & Experience:
    £    Relevant ACS domestic gas certificates £" City & Guilds, NVQ Level 2, ACS, CCN1, CEN1, HTR1, WAT1, CKR1 etc.
    £    A minimum of 3 years of proven experience working as a domestic gas engineer
    £    Honest, trustworthy and reliable
    £     Strong customer service skills
    £    Excellent communication skills
    £    Administration skills
    £    Ability to work in a professional and gas-safe manner at all times

    Role:

    Reporting to the Offshore Engineering Manager.

    Responsible for the provision of Transport and Installation Engineering expertise to the SSER portfolio of Offshore Wind Projects.

    Supporting Projects throughout the life cycle of development and delivery, you'll be accountable for coordinating a team of Engineers and Senior Engineers, including Staff and Contractors, ensuring that the appropriate resource and competence is provided to the Projects and that adequate engineering supervision and governance is applied for all offshore construction and installation activities.

    A large part of this role will involve the day to day line management and supervision of a team of engineers, managing their assignments, performance, delivery, welfare and wellbeing. This will also include setting clear goals and supporting the development of others and the department collectively.

    Working with a  team to establish consistent standards for the T&I work and drive a process orientated approach to support projects with all Transportation, Installation and offshore construction activities.

    As a key member of the Offshore Engineering Management team you'll also be required to support departmental management activities and develop and implement the business unit strategy in-line with the SSE Renewables objectives.

    Expectations:

    - Leading and inspiring a team to provide new or innovative solutions to extract maximum value from SSE Renewable's offshore portfolio and motivate others to deliver high quality specialist work.

    - Setting a strong safety culture across the team, leading by example, and establishing a team who are highly engaged with applying safety standards and pursuing improvements.

    - Naval Architecture or Offshore Engineering, preferably chartered with RINA or IMarEST, with knowledge of key installation construction considerations effecting structural design including load-out, sea transportation, offshore construction techniques and installation operations.

    - Organising team resources across business priorities without impacting agreed timescales and quality. Communicating across both Renewables Engineering and wider business customers and stakeholders.

    - Approval of T&I Engineering design deliverables and assurance requirements under LCP Governance across the Offshore Wind Portfolio which could result in a multi £million business impact if incorrect.

    - Decision making across the Offshore Wind Portfolio to ensure the best techno-economic solution is achieved within appropriate risk tolerances.

    Salary: £34,000 - £36,000 per annum  DOE

    The candidate would be expected to explore the innovative use of advanced technologies and development of engineered solutions to a range of robotic and teleoperational challenges.  This involves the innovative integration of technologies to satisfy end user requirements.

     

    Expectations:

    Delivery of a program of development trials on a range of teleoperable components and systems, which includes;
    £Preparation of safety paperwork associated with experimental programme.
    £Undertaking small and large-scale trials, involving proprietary and bespoke robotics hardware and test rig equipment.
    £Complete a series of experimental trials
    £Collect, tabulate and interpret experimental data and presentation of results in formal document formats, papers and presentations.

     

    The Candidate-  Qualifications & Experience:

    *PhD  in a relevant discipline in robotics or software development
    £The ability to perform duties to the highest safety and quality standards.
    £Hands on experience developing code for industrial robots, research robots or bespoke manipulator systems within a laboratory or industrial environment.
    £Hands on experience in the use of simulation or games software for the verification and validation of robotic control programs.
    £Experience of teleoperation of robotic systems within a nuclear or other hazardous environment is an advantage but not essential.

  • Role: Process Engineer

    Working for a manufacturing organisation who operate within the Defence Industry.

    They are seeking a Process Engineer with strong manufacturing processes experience, along with experience in risk assessments and  strong emphasis on New Process Introduction to work in a high hazard industry.

    This will include general risk assessments and more specific assessments such as DSEAR assessments involving ATEX rated equipment.


     Responsibilities:
    £Plan and manage manufacturing process development activities within capital budgets, whilst providing solutions and processes that are robust, timely, and cost effective which meet with customer expectations.
    £To coordinate development activities to establish supporting data that ensures the manufacturing processes are based on a sound understanding of the materials which are being processed and the technology adopted for the plant and equipment.
    £To coordinate and manage a project data file capturing salient data including design and rationale, trials data, process definition including drawings and specifications, certification and safety data. This data is to be controlled through the company£s Product Lifecycle Management system, Teamcenter.
    £To develop robust manufacturing processes implementing industry standard controls that ensure long term process stability; including: Lean principles, PCPs, PFMEAs.
    £Lead and support a number of activities including process reviews, capability studies, Safe System of Work, preparation and compilation of progress reports.
    £To carry out Risk Assessments on processes and equipment, in a high hazard industry. This will include general risk assessments and more specific assessments, such as DSEAR assessments involving ATEX rated equipment.
    £Interacting with installation contractors to ensure a safe working environment is maintained during plant upgrades.
    £To specify technical requirements of new process equipment and support qualification and introduction into production use by Manufacturing Operations.

    Location: Washington- Sunderland, North East

    12 month initial contract placement:  £18 per hour.

     

    Working for a manufacturing organisation on a 3 shift pattern;

    * Monday to Friday (with overtime potential at weekends).

    You must be eligible for SC Security Clearance (unfortunately due to security restrictions for this role, the candidate will need to be a British National with no dual nationality and must have resided in the UK for at least 4 of the past 5 years).

    Part of the Electrician's role is to work within the Maintenance Team:


    £Maintain all plant & equipment
    £Working on Preventative & reactive maintenance duties
    £Fault finding on PLC programs
    £Ensuring down time on machinery is kept to a minimum
    £Execution of work orders from the site CMMS

    As an Electrical Maintenance Engineer, you will have:
    £Experience with PLC controls, Siemens and Allen Bradley desirable
    £Experience of industrial robots, Fanuc desirable
    £Able to follow and interpret wiring, schematic and technical drawings
    £Able to use basic tools and machinery
    £Experience of electrical distribution systems, HV/LV switching certificate desirable
