£11m housing scheme will provide 60 new houses

An £11m housing development in Forton, Lancashire, has been announced by Trafford Housing Trust (part of L&Q), under its Laurus Homes brand.

The 60-home scheme will be built by MCI Developments, a subsidiary of Keepmoat Homes.

The 2.43 hectare development on the Hollins Lane site will see a mix of two-, three- and four-bedroom homes brought to the market, 24 of which will be offered for affordable rent or shared ownership.

The family-friendly development will also feature eight new bungalows, a childrens’ play area and high-quality public open-space.

Fred Crawshaw, senior commercial manager at Trafford Housing Trust, said: “Wyre Council has identified a significant need for affordable housing in the borough, and these new homes will help to address those requirements.

“We are delighted to be working with MCI for the first time on this important development.

“Trafford Housing Trust is committed to bringing forward affordable housing in Wyre and across the North West as we continue to tackle the current housing crisis.”

MCI’s managing director, Alex Wood, said: “We are very pleased to have secured planning permission for the scheme from Wyre Borough Council, and we’re looking forward to delivering the scheme for Trafford Housing Trust.

“We hope this will be the first of a number of sites that MCI will deliver in partnership with the trust.”

Work will start this month, with the development expected to be completed by March 2022.
